28 day Drug Rehab Programs
October 15th, 2007 by Terry Keith
As data of the success of drug rehab programs continues to accumulate the trend is hard to argue with. The verdict is simple. For clients with serious addictive behavior in drugs and alcohol one month is just not enough. Going to rehab for one month is better than doing nothing, but just barely. The relapse rates are high.
However, if you really stop and think about it, this is no surprise. Learning to be sober requires learning and practising new skills. These skills must be learned to at least a general level of competency. Would you think it is resonable to teach someone to golf or play a musical instrument even moderately well in 28 days?
The answer is obvious. The results match what we know through common sense. It takes longer than a month to learn most skills. It doesn't matter how intensive it is. Human beings take time to learn. So if you are looking for a drug and alcohol rehab program, be realistic. Take the time you need to learn. Don't set yourself up to fail.
