No family is immune to drug addiction.  Everyone is affected.  Catherine Toman owner of Heritage Home Drug Rehab is no exception.  Even though she has worked with addiction for several years, unfortunately her immediate family has been destroyed in one of Canada’s largest drug busts.  Her husband and her son and son-in-law were all arrested and eventually jailed when arrested for importing 22 tons of hash.  The full story is here. 

Going to drug rehab and alcohol rehab is a lot like life.  It has many many similarities.  There are moments of fear.  There are moments of despair.  There are moments of sheer joy. There are moments of inspiration.  Best of all there are moments of illumination and love.

Drug and alcohol rehab is also a lot like life in other ways as well.  If you approach it with honesty and truth you will ultimately do much much better.  If you care for others on your journey you will do much better.  It funny, but in life and in rehab, nice guys do win in the end.  Shortcuts and lies end up on the short end of the stick.
